Me

Hi Everyone!

I'm Gabi, I'm 24, have just graduated in BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Imaging and run my own stationery business - Chroma - with dreams to one day meet David Beckham. I love my friends, family, stationery, shopping and eating.

In December 2008, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease; for the past five years it has largely behaved itself, only rearing its ugly head about once a year. However, in September 2012, things changed a bit. My life became a mix of hospitals, horrible medication and fashion offices. It was in May 2013 that I decided to start blogging the war between Crohn's and my real life.
On June 6th I welcomed a helpful, little friend in to my life, Margaret. Margaret is an ileostomy; I also document my journey with her.
My aim is to get rid of the stigma attached to bowel disease and ostomy bags and show that you can be young and still live your life with both! I am determined to wear what clothes, swimwear and underwear I want, despite everything and never let it stand in my way.

Please join me on my journey in juggling all of these very different parts of my life & enjoy!

Lots of love
xxx

  1. Hi Gabi,

I've just read your story on the Newburynews website (whilst being off work recovering from my 4th Crohn's related surgery). I just wanted to say how amazed I am by what you're doing! My story reads very similarly to yours, except I was diagnosed at 18 after a year of problems. I had 3 operations in 2009, when I was 21, and had a stoma created, then 2 bags for a short while, then my colon removed. I've just (last week) had an operation to resolve complications relating to my disease and previous surgeries.

I've always been lucky that I took most of what was thrown at me in my stride, and have been fortunate enough to continue my career as a teacher, but never even considered being as open as you have been on your blog.

Well done and keep it up!

  3. keep up the good attitude, I am all but 30yrs old and have been diagnosed since 2008. 3 ops later including a ileostomy for 1.5yrs I had been flare up free since the resection for over a year. unfortunately a little flare up and a round of steriods I am feeling myself again.

Dont ever give up, I live my life the way I would've before with a few adjustments and moderations here and there. I went swimming, clubbing, eating with my bag and I have a bungee jump next month!!! Just want to clarify the bag has long gone!

Keep ya chin up and life life to the max!
